New crochet project

10 Feb

A friend of mine asked me if I wanted to make something for her that she can gift as a present. I love making things for people, so the answer was yes, ofcourse.

It’s a crochet stacking toy. It looks like a snail, it’s soft, colourful, and completely washable. Perfect for babies and toddlers.

I’m curious how long it will take me, last time I made this it took me two weeks (of fulltime crocheting!)

Quick crochet: iPad sleeve

23 Jan

When I just got my iPad i didn’t have a sleeve or cover for it, so I whipped this up. I took 5 different skeins of yarn, different sizes and colors. With a 12mm crochet hook I made this cover in about 45 minutes.

Quick iPad sleeve.

It served me well, and was put aside until I visited my friend and had it along. She loved it right away, so when I got me a store-bought cover, I gave this to her last week. She was really suprised, and i’m happy she likes it!

For those of you wanting t make something similar:
Gauge is not important. Choose a number of skeins, pair them and feel what hook fits best. Take your iPad, smartphone, Kindle or whatever it is you would like to make a sleeve for,  and make a foundation chain as wide as the device.  Chain 1, start the first round on the second ch from your hook, work in sc all around your foundation chain. Do not join on the end, make an sc in the next sc and just go on and on, until the sleeve is the size you want it to be.

I hope this is clear enough, I would love to know if you decide to make one for yourself!
